Arrest follows high-speed chase

Rawhide teen charged with stealing car

Donald D. Mclemore, 17, New London, is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, taking a vehicle without consent and fleeing an officer.

On March 27, staff at Rawhide Boys Ranch near New London reported that a juvenile stole a blue Chrysler Pacifica.

The caller said he saw the juvenile, later identified as Mclemore, take off in the vehicle, which had been parked near one of the buildings.

He said he followed the vehicle as far near New London High School on County Trunk W.

Waupaca County deputies, Wisconsin state troopers and Clintonville police later pursued the vehicle northbound on U.S. Highway 45 from New London through Clintonville.

Officers reported the Chrysler reached speeds of 108 mph, sometimes travelling north in the southbound lanes.

Just past County Trunk DD, the vehicle lost a tire, then started smoking and weaving back and forth before coming to a stop.

Officers arrested Mclemore at gunpoint.

He remains in custody on a $5,000 cash bond.
