Supreme Court nixes delay

In-person voting to take place Tuesday in Wisconsin

The state Supreme Court ruled against Gov. Tony Evers’ executive order to postpone the April 7 Spring election.

Evers issued the order on Monday, the day before Tuesday’s election.

His order sought to delay in-person voting until June 9 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed 77 people in the state as of April 6, according to Wisconsin Health Services.

Tuesday’s election will include the presidential primary and the election of a state Supreme Court justice.

Justice Daniel Kelly, whose name will appear on the ballot, did not participate in the 4-2 decision.

National Guard mobilizes

More than 2,400 members of the Wisconsin National Guard mobilized Sunday to serve as poll workers.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission developed a series of training videos for chief inspectors, election inspectors, voter registration and new roles like helping with line management and polling station hygiene, according to a National Guard press release.

The National Guard members will wear civilian clothes and serve in the counties where they live.
