Man charged with criminal trespass

Suspect hallucinating when arrested, police say

Damien R. Fette, 23, New London, is charged with three counts of felony bail jumping and one count of criminal trespass.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday, April 19, dispatch informed Waupaca County Deputy Steven Kincaid that a suspicious man had been reported on the E8400 block of Cut Off Road in Mukwa.

When Kincaid arrived at the scene, neighbors identified the man as Fette and said he was last seen heading into the woods.

They recognized him because he lives in the neighborhood.

Kincaid eventually found Fette in the woods. The deputy described him as jumpy and fidgety.

“He made quick jerky movements with his head and body as if he was not able to control himself,” according to the criminal complaint.

Kincaid reported Fette was hallucinating while he tried to question him.

Fette apparently did not know the day of week or what time it was.

At one point, Fette said he could see his friend standing outside the squad car, walking toward them with all his clothes, the complaint says. Fette then reportedly asked the imaginary friend to pick up his clothes because the wind was blowing them all over.

Kincaid stopped asking Fette any further questions “as he could see he was in an altered state of mind.”

The woman who reported the incident told Kincaid she had been startled by a sound on her porch.

When she looked outside, she saw Fette in a shed near her van.

She found a metal bar on the porch lying beside her door.

She thought Fette was trying to break into her home.

Fette is currently in Waupaca County jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

At the time of his April 19 arrest, Fette was out on bail for multiple felony charges.

On Dec. 4, 2012, Waupaca County charged Fette with felony possession of narcotics. He was released on a $2,000 signature bond with the condition that he not possess any illegal drugs.

On Jan 21, Outagamie County charged him with burglary, felony theft and felon in possession of a firearm. He was released from custody after posting a $500 cash bond with the condition that he maintain absolute sobriety.

On Jan. 29, Waupaca County charged Fette with burglary and theft. He was released on a $2,000 signature bond with the conditions that he not possess any illegal drugs and reside on Cut Off Road.
