Teen charged with burglary

Suspect accused of stealing farm tools

Gage L. Neumann, 18, Waupaca, is charged with burglary and theft.

On March 20, Waupaca County Deputy Pat Gorchals spoke with a farmer in the town of Lind.

The farmer said someone entered his workshop and stole some power tools and hand tools.

He suspected Neumann, a former worker who had been terminated and told not to come back onto the property.

According to the criminal complaint, the tools were found at Neumann’s home.

When questioned by Gorchals, Neumann reportedly said he took the tools, but planned to return them.

Gorchals then asked Neumann why he wrote his initials on the tools with a black magic marker.

Neumann said somebody else wrote his initials on the tools, but he refused to say who that was, the complaint says.

The court released Neumann from custody on a $2,000 signature bond with the condition that he stay off the farmer’s property.

On Dec. 16, 2019, Judge Raymond Huber convicted Neumann of misdemeanor theft and placed him on two years of probation with the condition that he pay $2,587 in restitution and court costs.
