Dorothy L. Harris, 91, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin died Friday, May 8, 2020 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Dorothy was born April 10, 1929 to to Frank and Clara Duetta (Gabrielson) Duff in Waupaka, Wisconsin. Her family moved to La Crosse where she graduated from Central High School and the LaCrosse Teachers’ College. She eventually earned her Master’s Degree. She was a special education teacher in Waupaca for many years and was known for her beautiful penmanship. Dorothy was united in in marriage with Allen Harris on September 19, 1970 in La Crosse, then spent the next 16 years farming in Bagley. After Allen’s death in 1986 she moved to Prairie du Chien where she was very active in her church, she also enjoyed singing there. Dorothy volunteered her services to many places including over 3600 hours at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse.
Surviving Dorothy are her nieces and nephews, John Cahill, Susan Smith, Shirley Stoller, Walter (Dona) Alva Cahill, Janet (Dave) Anglin, Tom (Sue) Goedeke, Gary Duff, Randy (Leslie) Duff, Judy (Dave) Sauve and Steven (Julie) Duff; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Harris in 1986; her parents, Frank and Clara Duff; and her siblings, Elnor Cahill, Marion Goedeke, Robert Duff and Vernon Duff.
A Visitation was held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin with Pastor Andy Doll as the officiant. All state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic was followed. Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Lakeside Cemetery, Waupaca, Wisconsin. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin is assisting the family.
