Cops follow suspicious vehicle to four Main Street stores

Katie L. Nielson, 30, Clintonville, is charged with two counts of felony bail jumping and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.

At 7:45 p.m. on May 4, Clintonville Police officers Andrew Kizewski and Tyler Bartel responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the BP gas station on South Main Street.

According to the criminal complaint, as soon as the squad cars arrived at the BP, a gray Pontiac Grand Am pulled out of the parking lot, turned north on Main Street, traveled less than a block, then went into the Econo Foods parking lot.

A few minutes later, the car left Econo Foods without any of its occupants entering the store and continued north on Main Street.

The Pontiac then turned onto West Third Street and pulled into the Mini Mart parking lot.

After several minutes, the car left the Mini Mart and drove north on Main Street.

Kizewski noticed the vehicle’s high-mounted center brake light was not functioning.

He activated his squad car’s emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop and followed the Pontiac until it pulled into the Kwik Trip parking lot.

Nielson was a back seat passenger on the driver’s side.

The driver reportedly told Kizewski he had nothing illegal in the car, but he was unsure about Nielson.

He gave the officer permission to search his vehicle.

Kizewski found a near-empty bottle of soda on the rear driver’s side where Nielson had been sitting.

Floating inside the bottle was a wrapped marijuana blunt, the complaint says.

Kizewski also reported finding nearly $1,500 in cash, two cellphones and marijuana shake in Nielson’s purse. and a spring-assisted knife on her person.
At the time of her arrest in Clintonville, Nielson was facing felony charges in two other counties.

On Aug. 5, 2019, Shawano County charged her with possession of methamphetamine and felony bail jumping and released her from custody after Nielson posted a $500 cash bond.

On Aug. 6, 2019, Outagamie County charged Nielson with possession of methamphetamine and released her on a $1,500 signature bond.

Nielson remains in custody on a probation hold in Waupaca County, where she was convicted on Oct. 23, 2019, of possession of methamphetamine and placed on three years of probation with the conditions that she spend 30 days in jail and not possess any illegal substances.
