Rally for Iola set for July 11

Event to include 75-mile cruise

Plans have been announced for Rally for Iola 2020.

The event will be held Saturday, July 11, and take the place of this year’s Iola Car Show & Swap Meet, which organizers canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cruise will get underway at 10 a.m. at the Iola Car Show Grounds, according to Ali Johnson, the show’s digital contest specialist.

“We will be staging cars starting at 8 a.m. on our grounds,” she said. “We will start the road cruise at 10 a.m., traveling 75 miles through Waupaca County. The cruise is designed to meet current socially distanced guidelines and we recommend those be followed. Fingers crossed, we are able to be a little more lenient by July so people can watch the cars in a parade-style fashion.”

The rally will pass through Iola, Big Falls, Little Falls, Clintonville, Symco, Manawa, Waupaca and Scandinavia before returning to Iola.

A detailed route can be found at www.iolaoldcarshow.com/rally-for-iola.

All vehicles are welcome and there is a $15 fee to participate. The event will be held rain or shine.

Participants will receive goody bags with a limited-edition rally directory while supplies last. The first 2,000 show cars will also receive an Iola 2020 dash plaque and additional memorabilia will be available for purchase.
