Claussen, Sheila J.

Sheila J. Claussen, age 89, of Waupaca, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

She was born in Hinsdale, IL on September 17, 1930 to Clarence and Gladys (Ramsden) Davis. She was united in marriage to Kermit Claussen. They had three children, raised 15 foster children, and were also house parents for the Goodland Children’s Home. Sheila went on a mission trip to Matehualla, Mexico through the Bethany Fellowship. For 12 plus years, she played piano for Sunday school, taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. She worked at Whispering Pines Park in the food stand and at the Veterans Home in Stordock Hall for the cleaning department, then as a CNA. Sheila’s primary job was as a librarian for over 20 years at the Waupaca Public Library.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Thomas Claussen of Waupaca and his son Martin; Janyce Molepske of Texas and her sons, Steven, Timothy (Sara), Gregory (Lindsay), Jeffrey (Samantha), and Eric (significant other, Sarah); and Carol (Tim) Casselman of New Lisbon and their children, Angie and Chad; as well as 13 great-grandchildren. Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit; and son-in-law, Douglas.

She will be laid to rest at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King alongside her husband. A grand celebration of her life will be held in the future. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
