Manawa Stampede called off

Event to return in 2021

COVID-19 has led to the cancellation of another annual event.

The Little Wolf River Trails Committee has decided to cancel the 12th annual Manawa Stampede 5K/10K Run/Walk.

The event had been scheduled for Saturday, July 4, in connection with the Mid-Western Rodeo.

“The Little Wolf River Trails Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Stampede Run/Walk due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” organizer Ann Wade said. “We feel this is in the best interest of participants, volunteers and the community. Anyone who has already registered will be hearing from us about a refund.”

The event will return July 3, 2021.

The Mid-Western Rodeo, originally scheduled for July 2-4, has also been canceled.

“We’d like to remind participants, the community and trail enthusiasts that the Manawa trails are funded by the profits of the Stampede event and donations and not funded by the city or tax dollars,” Wade said.

“We are in need of donations, as many other nonprofit organizations are this year,” she said. “If you are looking for an organization to donate to, we hope you’ll consider us, as 100% of our funds go into these trails.”

Donations can be sent to Little Wolf River Trail, P.O. Box 121, Manawa, WI 54949. Checks should be made payable to WCNRF (Waupaca Country Natural Resource Foundation).
