Police say man punched grandmother

Victim hid in store’s restroom

Anthony R. Weber, 29, Marion, is charged with aggravated battery of an elderly person and disorderly conduct as acts of domestic abuse.

He also faces charges of criminal damage to property and misdemeanor bail jumping.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Friday, June 5, the local Kwik Trip store called Clintonville police to report that an elderly woman was injured and had been hiding in their bathroom.

Clintonville Police Sgt. Matthew Wright and Waupaca County Deputy Brittany Mathewson arrived at the scene.

The 69-year-old woman told the officers that earlier that night her grandson, Weber, came home intoxicated.

According to the criminal complaint, Weber demanded that she give him a ride to New London.

When she said she needed money for gas, Weber allegedly began punching her in the chest and arms.

The woman, who walks with a cane, reportedly told police that he threw and broke things around the house, then later pulled her hair.

The grandmother drove them to Kwik Trip, then went inside and hid in the restroom.

Weber is currently in custody on a $1,500 cash bond.

Among the conditions of his bond, Weber must maintain absolute sobriety and have no contact with his grandparents. He is also prohibited from withdrawing funds from any of his grandparents’ accounts.

At the time of his most recent arrest, Weber was out on a $1,000 signature bond after being charged with fourth-degree sexual assault on July 8, 2019.
