Suhs, Clayton Dale

Clayton Dale Suhs, age 94, Waupaca, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton, Wisconsin.

He was born on October 15, 1925 in the Township of Dayton, Waupaca County and was the son of the late John and Ella (Stinemates) Suhs. He married Jeanette Arndt on May 4, 1946 in the Township of Lind, Waupaca County. Jeanette preceded him in death on May 14, 2007. Clayton was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Waupaca and served on various boards. He was employed at Waupaca Motor Sales for over 40 years and was the Service Manager at the time of his retirement in 1988. Clayton had a great love for his family and faithfully cared for his loving wife Jeanette during her years requiring special care. He was always eager to help in any projects his sons and grandchildren were involved in. He had a great mechanical mind and could always come up with a solution to a problem. Clayton enjoyed the outdoors whether it be yard work, gardening, farming, snowmobiling, helping on the tree farm, deer hunting and just being with family. He loved meeting with his coffee clutch friends and keeping up on Waupaca’s current events along with visiting with the many friends he acquired throughout the years. Clayton was known as the Mayor of Bethany Home. He was blessed by all the friends and family that faithfully came to visit. The family would like to thank Bethany Home and staff for the wonderful care given to Clayton over the last 4 1/2 years.

Clayton is survived by two sons, Stephen (Judy) Suhs, Timothy (Joni) Suhs both of Waupaca; five grandchildren: Christopher (Alana) Suhs, Janesville, Wisconsin; John (Amanda) Suhs, Waupaca; Timothy Suhs, Waupaca,; Todd (Kalli) Suhs, Waupaca, and Tori (Ethan) Dayton, Waupaca; nine great-grandchildren Elijah, Jasper, Juniper, Fintan, Evelyn, Oliver, Margot, Elliot and Clayton; sisters-in-law, Catherine Suhs and Esther Suhs of Waupaca and Carol Fletcher of Cottage Grove, Minnesota. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth Suhs and Lyle Suhs; two sisters, Marjorie (Francis) Jonas and Phyllis (William) Vetter; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Alvin) Nelsen, Rose (Vilas) Siedenkranz and brothers-in-law, Donald (LaVon) Arndt and Myron Fletcher.

A memorial has been established in his name. Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupaca, with the service to immediately follow at the church. Pastor Ben Kempfert will officiate. Interment to follow at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Town of Dayton, Waupaca County.
