Activities resume at CHS Rec Center

Clintonville to begin Phase I of reopening

By Bert Lehman

The Clintonville High School Rec Center will reopen on July 1.

The reopening will be the first phase of reopening the facility, and some restrictions will be in place.

The Clintonville School Board approved guidelines for Phase I of the Rec Center’s reopening at its June 8 meeting.

Prior to approval, the guidelines had been shared with and evaluated by the Waupaca County Department of Health Services (DHS).

They also follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

The guidelines stipulate that members practice social distancing while at the Rec Center.

Members are also required to call ahead to reserve a time slot to use the weight room or swimming pool.

During Phase I, the basketball gym, hot tub and community room will be closed.

Day passes will also not be sold during Phase I.

It is recommended that children age 13 and under be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Rec Center will implement extra cleaning protocols.

Members must disinfect all equipment before and after each use.

They will be provided a disinfectant bottle and towel to do so.

Certain machines in the weight room will be unavailable during Phase I.

This will help ensure proper social distancing.

The lap pool will be available for lap swimming and structured exercise only.

The leisure pool will be available for walking and therapy purposes.

The hot tub will be closed in Phase I.

Locker rooms will be open for changing and restroom use.

Showers will be limited to prior to swimming and absolute necessary use.

Hair dryers and wall mounted hand dryers will not be allowed.

Fitness classes will be held in the basketball gym or outdoors in order to provide space for social distancing.

A CHS Rec Center staff member will be assigned to clean, disinfect and monitor patron social distancing.

Times slots will be 45 minutes and can only be reserved by calling 715-823-7215, Ext. 7.

Time slot reservations must be made two days prior to the requested date.

The CHS Rec Center will remain in Phase I until Waupaca DHS approves moving to Phase II.
