Roe back in jail

Suspect told police she entered about 20 parked cars over two nights

Alison C. Roe, 48, Waupaca, is currently in custody on a $2,000 cash bond.

Roe is charged with four counts of felony bail jumping, nine counts of misdemeanor theft, and one count of operating while revoked.

According to the criminal complaint, Waupaca Police Officer Brent Wittman spoke with a Lake Street resident Sunday, June 21.

He told the officer someone went through his vehicle overnight and took about $10 in change.

That same day, Waupaca police spoke to two residents on Larson Street who reported money stolen from their parked vehicles.

On Monday, June 22, Wittman was dispatched to South Washington Street where a woman said someone rifled through her vehicle and took approximately $15 in change.

The woman found an unfamiliar cellphone in her car.

Wittman reported the phone’s wallpaper was a photo of Roe.

Also on June 22, Waupaca Police Officer Jeffrey Mason spoke with a woman who said $64.50 had been stolen from her vehicle while it was parked the previous night in Waupaca Foundry’s parking lot on Division Street.

Foundry security cameras captured images of a woman entering vehicles in the lot.

Mason identified the woman as Roe due to her prior police contacts.

At 11:35 p.m. on June 22, Waupaca Police Officer Sam Van Dinter was dispatched to Waupaca Foundry in response to reported thefts from unlocked cars.

He found Roe in the parking lot and arrested her.

Inside the car Roe reportedly said she drove to the foundry, Van Dinter found a purse with a large amount of cash and coins.

Van Dinter spoke to four people who said money had been stolen from their vehicles while parked at the foundry’s parking lot.

They reported the theft of a total of $159.

Wittman also spoke with a woman who said her purse had been stolen while it was parked at the foundry.

She said her purse contained various debit and credit cards, her driver’s license, her Social Security car and cash.

When Wittman questioned her about the missing purse, Roe reportedly said she removed the cash and dumped the purse into a downtown trash can.

Roe estimated she entered about 20 vehicles on the nights of June 21-22, the complaint says.
