Man charged with felony theft

Suspect also faces heroin charges in Waukesha

Steven A. Johnson, 34, Waukesha, is charged with felony theft and felon in possession of a firearm.

On April 7, Waupaca County Deputy Jason Claussen spoke with a town of Dayton resident who reported that someone stole $10,000 worth of savings bonds from his home while he was away.

According to the criminal complaint, coins and a shotgun were also stolen.

That same day, Waukesha police arrested Johnson on an alleged drug offense.

The savings bonds and other stolen items were found at Johnson’s residence.

Waukesha County charged Johnson with felony possession of heroin with intent to deliver, felony possession of narcotics, felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson is scheduled for a plea hearing in Waukesha County on July 16.

He has been in custody in Waukesha County on a $5,000 cash bond since his arrest on April 8.
