Gamm, Charles “Chuck” E

Charles “Chuck” E Gamm of Waupaca, WI, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020 due to complications with heart surgery.

He was born in Milwaukee on May 18, 1941 to the late Andrew and Mildred (Westerlund) Gamm.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Paula (Sherman). They had three children: Cory (Gary) Rice of Iola, Christopher (Jill) Gamm of Bonduel, Kathy (Chris) Colby of Statesville, NC. A granddaughter, Amanda of Bonduel; a brother, Harry F Gamm and three nephews: Andy, Jimmy and Billy; and a sister, Madeline (Mike) St Lawrence also survive along with extended family and friends.

Chuck had a long fulfilling life serving God as a member of First Assembly of God Church in Waupaca, where you could find him playing the organ and occasionally the violin. He could pretty much pick up any instrument and start playing it like he had been playing it for years. In his early years at First Assembly he was extensively involved in the boys program Royal Rangers leading to District Commander, overseeing the state wide program for the Assemblies of God. Chuck was also a veteran from the Navy who served on the USS Lake Champlain and had the privilege of picking up Alan Shepard when he returned from being the first man in space. Chuck earned his private pilot license and served on the Waupaca Airport Board for many years. He also was a member of the Frontier Camping Fraternity and did many frontiersman presentations at the Waupaca Elementary Schools, dressed up like Daniel Boone. During his working career he was the manager of the Waupaca Red Owl when Chuck and Paula first moved to the area. They next bought Atkinson’s Department Store on Main Street and renamed it His N Hers. Chuck and Paula next joined the insurance industry and sold insurance with their business Christian Family Ins.

Chuck will be greatly and sadly missed by his family, friends and many people he influenced. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at First Assembly of God church at 12 p.m., preceded by visitation at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will be immediately after the service at Spencer Lake Memorial Cemetery. Maple Crest Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
