Union Thresheree to start July 24

Event includes tractor pull, parade

Visitors to the Union Thresheree will notice a few changes for this year’s event, scheduled for Friday to Sunday, July 24-26, at the thresheree grounds in Symco.

The Union Thresherman’s Club hosts the event, which this year will include an antique tractor pull; flea market; pedal pulls for kids and adults; live music; demonstrations; antique power chainsaw contest; and parade.

Gates will open at 7 a.m. each day.

The schedule for July 24 included various demonstrations; a feature tractor fun pull at 3 p.m.; and music from the Rejects from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Derek Joseph from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The July 25 schedule includes the antique tractor pull weigh-in at 8:30 a.m.; kids pedal pull at 9:30 a.m.; antique tractor pull and Dash for Cash for ages 4-9 at 11 a.m.; demonstrations; music by Cherry Pie at 8 p.m.; and an adult pedal pull at 9 p.m.

The thresheree will wrap up July 26 with a church service at 7:30 a.m. at Unionville Church; a parade at 11:30 a.m.; demonstrations; music from Troy Allen from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and an antique power chainsaw contest at 3 p.m.

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day.

The Unionville Saloon will only be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 24-25 and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 26. The saloon’s menu will consist of soda, water and bag popcorn.

This year’s show will feature Massey Harris, Massey Ferguson and Wallis tractors and equipment, as well as Fuller & Johnson gas engines.

Daily admission is $5 for ages 13 and up and free for ages 12 and under.

The thresheree will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, including:

• Required frequent hand washing for volunteers and attendees. Everyone is encouraged to use hand sanitizer that includes at least 60% alcohol and rub their hands until dry.

• Volunteers and attendees are advised to stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or are showing symptoms of the virus.

• Volunteers and attendees are advised to stay home and monitor their health if they have had close contact with a person with COVID-19 symptoms within the past 14 years.

• Volunteers and attendees are encouraged – but not required – to wear a cloth face covering.

• Volunteers and attendees are encouraged to practice social distancing while around others.
