Recipes, stories from pandemic

Community cookbook seeks comforting anecdotes

For much of 2020, people who live in the Waupaca area have stayed “safer at home.”

During the pandemic, many families and individuals have made more foods and meals at home.

People have used cooking and baking as ways to remain safe at home and find comfort during this time.

The Waupaca Area Public Library and the Waupaca Historical Society are gathering these stories and recipes to produce a Waupaca community cookbook.

Local families, individuals, businesses and organizations are encouraged to submit stories and recipes from this pandemic time online or at the library.

Recipes can be frequently made favorites or new recipes tried during the pandemic.

The cookbook will then serve as a time capsule, a glimpse into life during the pandemic.

The cookbook project is a joint fundraiser for the historical society and the library.

Recipes can be submitted online at www.waupacalibrary.org or by dropping off a hand-written copy at the library.

Submissions are due on Aug. 15.

The cookbooks are being printed this fall and will be available for purchase in November.

Those who submit a recipe receive a free cookie cutter.

Visit www.waupacalibrary.org or www.waupacahistoricalsociety.org for more information.

This project is sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Waupaca Rotary Club, Community First Credit Union, Waupaca Community Arts Board, Beiser Realty, BankFirst, ThedaCare, Waupaca Foundry, Udoni and Salan Realty Group and RE/MAX Lyons Real Estate.
