Car goes into Wolf River

Two citizens rescue passengers

Two citizens rescued passengers who were trapped in a vehicle that went into the Wolf River.

Shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, a 911 caller reported that a vehicle travelling eastbound on County Trunk X at Broadway Street in the town of Mukwa left the roadway and entered the river.

The caller reported that a woman and a child were trapped in the vehicle.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, two “Good Samaritans” broke a window and freed the occupants.

Gold Cross ambulance transported the female driver and the child to ThedaCare in New London.

The woman suffered minor injuries. The child appeared uninjured.

The vehicle was removed from the Wolf River.

No names have been released at t his time.

The incident remains under investigation.
