Man charged for bringing gun to bar

Suspect faces felony bail jumping charge

Jacob J. Haehnlein, 21, Waupaca, is charged with felony bail jumping and the misdemeanor offense of carrying a handgun where alcohol is consumed.

About 2:20 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, Waupaca County Jason Claussen was dispatched to Otter Drive in King in response to a firearm complaint involving Haehnlein.

While Claussen was en route, Sgt. Kevin Studzinski advised dispatch to tell Haehnlein to place the gun down on the ground and step away from it when officers arrived.

Haehnlein complied.

While Studzinski was conducting a pat down search of Haehnlein, Studzinski secured a 9mm handgun that had a magazine with eight rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

Haehnlein told the officers he entered Wally’s Bar with the gun in a holster on his hip.

According to the criminal complaint, Haehnlein began arguing with two of the patrons.

He said he left the bar because he felt he was making the bartender nervous.

At the time of his arrest on July 11, Haehnlein was out on a $1,000 signature bond, following a felony charge of transfer of encumber property.

Waupaca County summoned Haehnlein to appear in court on Aug. 11.
