Krueger, James K.

James K. Krueger, age 76, formerly of Pella-Leopolis passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2020 at the home of his daughter in Ohio.

Jim was born on May 27, 1944 to Margaret and Ray Krueger. He graduated from Marion High School and attended college at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. Jim loved playing sports; football, wrestling, track, gymnastics, and most of all weight lifting. He began competition in college and lifted into his 70s. He met his wife, Beverly, in college and they had their daughter Tina in 1966. The family moved to Madison where Jim attended graduate school at the UW. Jim worked as a vocational counselor for the State until retirement. During that time, he also purchased and remodeled rental properties. He still found time to come back to Leopolis to visit friends and play cards. When he retired, he loved to spend time at the farm cutting trees and of course, playing cards. He also traveled to Ohio to help his daughter build a horse stable. He began leather working and quickly filled the house with bridles, reins and belts. Jim was a big personality with an unmatched work ethic, yet a kind generosity for those close to him.

Survivors include: his wife Beverly Krueger; daughter Tina (Sheri) Krueger and granddaughters, Kate and Chloe Krueger; sisters: Darla Baerenwald, Sandy (Ron) Klitz, and Debra Nienke; nieces and nephews: Terry Baerenwald, Kim (Steve) Vanderhoef, Gale Baerenwald, Chris Klitz, Liz (John) Schultz, Travis Nienke, and Megan (Tim) Stueck. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Ray; his brother Bob and best friend Warren.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on August 29, 2020. Family and friends are welcome to stop by the St. John Lutheran Church of Leopolis from 2-3 p.m. A service will be held at 3 p.m., followed by a graveside memorial. A celebration at the Leoplois park across from the church will start at 4 p.m. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church, an enduring strength for our family. Finally, you may honor Jim by voting Democrat.
