Felony charges follow stabbing

Suspect held on $250,000 cash bond

Luis Gomez Santiago, 23, is charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated battery, intimidation of a witness and intimidation of a victim.

Waupaca County, Clintonville and Marion officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, on State Highway 22 in the town of Larrabee.

When they arrived, they found a 25-year-old man, identified in the complaint as ILH, with a stab wound in his lower abdomen.

Gomez Santiago and a woman, identified as CLH, were also at the scene.

ILH and Gomez Santiago had suffered facial injuries.

According to the criminal complaint, CLH had Mexican ID and said Gomez Santiago paid $15,000 for her to come to the United States a month ago.

CLH, her brother ILH and Gomez Sanchez had lived in the same village in Mexico.

After she arrived in the United States, CLH lived with Gomez Santiago for about two weeks in Clark County.

CLH described Gomez Santiago as aggressive.

She told investigators her brother picked her up and took her to his home in Larrabee.

That night, CLH and ILH had dinner at a Clintonville restaurant.

While they were eating, Gomez Santiago came into the restaurant and sat at their table.

He then followed them to ILH’s home.

Gomez Santiago allegedly followed CLH into her bedroom and told her to make something for him to eat.

When she suggested he heat up the leftovers from the restaurant, Gomez Santiago became angry and grabbed her by the arm.

ILH heard the yelling, entered the room and tried to calm Gomez Santiago.

Gomez Santiago allegedly punched ILH in the face, and the two began fighting.

CLH was injured while trying to break up the fight.

She pulled ILH away from Gomez Santiago, who then stabbed ILH, the complaint says.

CLH and ILH left the house, while Gomez Santiago remained inside.

CLH told investigators Gomez Santiago threatened to hurt her family back in Mexico if he was deported.

While at the hospital in Neenah, ILH told officers Gomez Santiago paid $11,300 to help ILH enter the United States illegally about two months ago.

On Feb. 25 2019, Clark County charged Gomez Santiago with repeated sexual assault of a child and issued a warrant for his arrest.

A 9-year-old girl accused him of touching her inappropriately.

Gomez Santiago remains in Waupaca County jail on a $250,000 cash bond.
