Waupaca company in statewide manufacturing competition
Waupaca Foundry is one of 137 nominees for the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC) competition titled the “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.”
The competition highlights Wisconsin’s manufacturing industry, which employs 1 in 6 people in the state.
The contest has received nominations for products made from throughout the state.
Waupaca Foundry has been nominated for its air disc brakes, an increasingly popular technology on commercial vehicle tractor and trailer braking systems.
The manufacturer operates three foundries and one machining operation in Wisconsin where workers cast, CNC machine and finish gray and ductile iron castings.
The iron casting supplier’s components are used in automobiles, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, heavy trucks, rail, oil and gas and other industrial sectors.
Waupaca Foundry is the largest metalcaster in the world and employs 4,500 people nationwide.

The nominees are placed into a bracket-style tournament called Manufacturing Madness with three rounds of voting.
• The first round of voting to determine the Top 16 nominees is from Sept. 14 to Sept. 20.
• The second round of voting determines the top 8 nominees is from Sept. 22 to Sept 27.
• The last four finalists will be voted on from Oct. 6 to Oct. 14.
The winner of the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin will be announced on Oct. 14 in a virtual event.
