Veterans event planned in Clintonville

Walk/Ride slated for Sept. 26

Dohr

The third annual Walk/Ride for Veterans in Memory of Cpl. Dylan T. Dohr has been set for Saturday, Sept. 26, at Breakaway Bar and Grill, N2921 County Trunk. Y, Clintonville.

On April 28, 2017, Dohr, a corporal in the United States Marine Corps and 2013 graduate of Clintonville High School, drowned in a kayaking accident at Cave Point in Door County. He was home on leave for his mother’s wedding.

The first walk in his memory was held in July 2018.

In 2019, a motorcycle ride was included with the event.

This year a cornhole tournament will be added.

In the past, the profits of the events have gone to Semper Fi Fund, 22 Until None and Wounded Warriors in Action.

This year, all proceeds will stay local and will be donated to the local American Legion Post 63 in Clintonville.

Participants can register for the walk and ride beginning at 10 a.m. on the morning of the event.

The walk will then start at 11 a.m., followed by the motorcycle ride at 11:30 a.m.

Registration for the cornhole tournament also begins at 10 a.m. with the first round of the tournament starting at noon.

Raffle tickets can be purchased by emailing [email protected]. They will also be available to purchase at the event. Winners need not be present to win.

Basket raffles and a 50/50 raffle will also be held at the event.

Most of the event will be outdoors and will be following Shawano County Health Department’s recommendations regarding COVID-19. Hand sanitizer will be available for participants and surfaces will be sanitized and cleaned throughout the day.

However due to COVID restrictions, food will not be available outside at the event, but Breakaway has a full menu.

Any business or individual wishing to donate to Walk/Ride for Veterans can do so by contacting Rebecca Dzioba at 715-250-0832 or by mailing them to Walk for Veterans, PO Box 30, Clintonville, WI 54929.

Drop off locations have also been set up at the Clintonville Chronicle, 10 N. Main Street, and Northside BP, 287 S. Main Street, Clintonville.
