Comets drop 10 goals on Denmark

Seven players score for Waupaca

Seven players found the net for the Waupaca boys’ soccer team as the Comets picked up a 10-2 North Eastern Conference win over Denmark Oct. 1.

Austin Hansen, Ryan Drivas and Max Gusmer each scored twice, while Sam Petkovsek, Dawson Patzke, Bryce Boldt and Jed Vanden Bush added goals.

Patzke added a pair of assists, while Gusmer, Boldt, Drivas, Vanden Bush and Aiden Rollins chipped in with one each.

Waupaca took a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals from Gusmer, Boldt and Drivas before Jacob Veleke’s unassisted goal cut the Comets’ lead to 3-1 in the 33-minute mark.

The Comets responded two minutes later with Vanden Bush’s unassisted goal that gave Waupaca a 4-1 lead at the break.

Goals from Gusmer, Hansen and Patzke in the first seven minutes of the second half gave Waupaca a 7-1 lead. Hansen’s second goal made it 8-1 before Ethan Bergelin scored Denmark’s second goal.

Waupaca closed out the scoring with a pair of answered goals.

The Comets outshot the Vikings 20-4.

Waupaca will host Fox Valley Lutheran at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.
