Clintonville sports put on hold

Boys’ soccer, volleyball switch to spring

With the Clintonville Public School District going to 100% virtual learning, Clintonville High School athletics has put a hold on regular-season competitions at this time.

Each sport has been assessed individually due to certain WIAA deadlines, differences in each sport and timeframes of the seasons. The decisions are based on many factors, with student health and safety being the No. 1 priority.

Football

• Games will be canceled or postponed for the next two weeks.

• The team will not practice the week of Oct. 5. If the team practices the week of Oct. 12, there will be a maximum of two in-person days.

• There is no official decision made at this time whether to continue the current season or to opt to the alternative fall season, to be held next spring. This decision will be made within the next two weeks.

Boys’ soccer

• The team will now participate in the alternative fall season next spring.

Volleyball

• The team will now participate in the alternative fall season next spring.

Cross country

• No more regular-season competitions are allowed.

• Two in-person practices per week will be allowed during the virtual instruction period.

• The team will compete in the North Eastern Conference meet Thursday, Oct. 15, and the WIAA tournament series later in the month.

Girls’ swimming

• The team will not participate in any competitions for the next two weeks, with the remaining regular-season schedule to be assessed.

• Two in-person practices per week will be allowed during the virtual instruction period.

• The team will compete in the Bay Conference meet Thursday, Oct. 29, and the WIAA tournament series in November.

Girls’ tennis

• The season is completed since the team participated in the WIAA tournament series Oct. 5.

The district will continue to monitor conditions for competitions and continue to take precautions while following current health and safety guidelines and recommendations.
