CWC meet set for Oct. 15

The season is winding down for cross country runners and some of them aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Iola-Scandinavia’s Charlie Vater and Weyauwega-Fremont’s Abby Bartel won the boys’ and girls’ races, respectively, Oct. 8 at a Central Wisconsin Conference meet in Weyauwega.

Meanwhile, Vater’s brother, Robert, and Bartel placed first Oct. 5 at another CWC meet in Marion.

The Weyauwega meet also included teams from Manawa, Amherst, Marion, Pacelli, Bonduel, Wittenberg-Birnamwood and Tri-County.

Places and times for area runners include:

Boys

Iola-Scandinavia: Charlie Vater (first, 17:50); Dylan Donovan (ninth, 18:54); Jacob Lashua (18th, 19:31); Robert Vater (21st, 20:02); Ian Koss (27th, 20:32); and Brandon Phillips (42nd, 22:26).

Manawa: Justin Buschke (24th, 20:19); Zach Sch
ertz (25th, 20:23); Ricky Pingel (33rd, 21:02); Noah Bortle (43rd, 23:15); Ted Emmert (45th, 23:53); and Keither Jepson (47th, 24:37).

Weyauwega-Fremont: Carson Kester (12th, 18:57); Josh Halat (19th, 19:39); Martin Leyva (20th, 19:45); Logan Krause (23rd, 20:04); Isiah Schuh (30th, 20:37); Jaden Rice (32nd, 20:58); Jakob Mills (34th, 21:07); and Luke Ehrenberg (37th, 21:33).

Girls

Iola-Scandinavia: Tara Thompson (21st, 26:08); Chloe Timdal (23rd, 26:17); Alyssa Grant (24th, 27:04); Kelly Jones (25th, 27:04); and Abby Isermann (30th, 29:27).

Manawa: Andrea Weber (33rd, 30:29); and Aspen Linjer (34th, 30:38).

Weyauwega-Fremont: Bartel (first, 20:06); Melanie Jentsch (seventh, 22:32); Emma Ziepke (18th, 25:07); and Ava Loehrke (26th, 27:23).

Team scores for the meet were not available.

Pacelli and Pittsville won boys’ and girls’ titles at Marion.

Team scores for the boys were Pacelli (18), Weyauwega-Fremont (56), Pittsville (89), Manawa (91) and Marion (120).

Team scores for the girls were Pittsville (25) and Iola-Scandinavia (30).

Iola-Scandinavia: Robert Vater (first, 18:43); Charlie Vater (second, 18:58); Donovan (sixth, 19:51); and Koss (23rd, 22:23).

Manawa: Buschke (14th, 21:10); Schertz (17th, 21:27); Pingel (19th, 21:46); Bortle (29th, 23:48); Emmert (31st, 24:23); and Jepson (38th, 28:35).

Weyauwega-Fremont: Kester (seventh, 19:57); Halat (ninth, 19:59); Krause (16th, 21:25); Rice (18th, 21:40); Schuh (21st, 22:00); Mills (25th, 23:03); Ehrenberg (27th, 23:24); Biel Pallares Mayoral (28th: 23:33); Quinten Kempf (35th, 25:56); and Braeden McIvor (37th, 26:47).

Girls

Weyauwega-Fremont: Bartel (first, 21:12); Jentsch (second, 23:55); and Ziepke (fifth, 25:52).

Iola-Scandinavia, Manawa and Weyauwega-Fremont will join Amherst, Bonduel, Gresham/Bowler, Marion, Pacelli, Rosholt, Tri-County and Wittenberg-Birnamwood at the CWC meet. The meet will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at Pittsville High School, with races scheduled to get underway at 4:45 p.m.
