Bulldogs get second win

New London tops Seymour

By Murray Gleffe

Ben Noffke threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns to lift New London to a 28-7 Bay Conference football victory over Seymour Oct. 30.

Kyle Wisniewski also totaled nearly 200 rushing and receiving yards as the Bulldogs improved to 2-2 on the season.

“Kyle made some huge catches for us down the sidelines to keep drives going,” coach Kyle Collins said. “We challenged our offensive line to get the ball moving in the right direction.”

The Bulldogs churned out 319 yards of total offense and Seymour ended with 210, with 179 of those coming after halftime.

Late in the first quarter with neither team moving the ball, Seymour lined up for a punt from midfield.

The snap went over Logan Mattson’s head and New London recovered the ball deep inside Thunder territory.

All it took was one play for New London to strike.

Noffke lofted a ball to Gabe Wohlt, who hauled in the 20-yard touchdown reception to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead with 1:55 remaining in the opening quarter.

The second quarter didn’t prove any better for the Thunder, as they mustered only 7 yards of offense and gave up two more scores.

Wisniewski scored from 6 yards out and Noffke hooked up with Jack Grable for a 15-yard score with 21 seconds to go in the half for a 21-0 lead.

New London added to its lead with Noffke’s 6-yard pass to Grable in the fourth quarter and Seymour found the end zone late in the game on Payton Vandehei’s 26-yard pass to Carson Molle.

New London outgained the Thunder 328-187. The Bulldogs had a 161-60 advantage in rushing yards and 167-127 through the air.

Wisniewski led the Bulldogs with 109 yards on 19 carries and also caught four passes for a team-high 80 yards.

New London is scheduled to wrap up the regular season at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, by hosting Little Chute.
