Last two games canceled

COVID-19 has ended the season for the Weyauwega-Fremont football team.
The team had been scheduled to open the WIAA state football playoffs Nov. 13 with a Division 5 home game against Howards Grove, but Howards Grove forfeited because of covid-related issues.
Weyauwega-Fremont then scheduled a nonplayoff game for Nov. 13 in Wisconsin Rapids against Assumption, but that game has been canceled.
Howards Grove’s forfeit meant Weyauwega-Fremont would have headed to Markesan to play the Hornets in a Level 2 playoff game Thursday, Nov. 19, but that game has also been canceled. The cancellation means Markesan wins a regional championship without playing a playoff game.
Markesan, a No. 1 seed, advanced to the second round after fourth-seeded Westfield forfeited.
Weyauwega-Fremont received a No. 2 seed in its bracket, while Howards Grove was a No. 3 seed.
