Rice, Michael “Mayford” A.

Michael “Mayford” A. Rice, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at his home in Waupaca, WI.

He was born November 4, 1955 in Waupaca, WI, son of Mayford and Joni (Hales) Rice. Mike worked for 43 years at the Waupaca Foundry retiring in 2017. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Mike also enjoyed trap shooting, bowling, and pitching horseshoes with his brothers through the years. He will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and friends.

Mike is survived by his five children: Gregg Rice, Scott (Peggy Sue) Rice, Joe Rice, Josh (Tracy) Rice, and Jessica (Michael) Rice, all of Waupaca; six grandchildren: Maison and McCaulley Rice, Jenna Rice, and Trenten, Kendall, and Mallory Rice, all of Waupaca; his mother, Joni Rice of Waupaca; four siblings: Mickey (Nancy) Rice of Waupaca, Mark (Brenda) Rice of Waupaca, Mary Jo (Jim Anderson) Schroth of Plover, and Matt (Sandy) Rice of Weyauwega; his former wife, Rhonda Rice of Waupaca; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cheryl (Mike) Knutson of Berlin, Julie (Steve) Delfosse of Waupaca, Mike (Angie) Wanty of Waupaca, Becky Morgan of Scandinavia, Jane (Bryan) Avery of Waupaca, and Tim Wanty of Waupaca; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Mayford “Mike” Rice, and his parents-in-law, Richard “Dick” and Arylene Wanty.

A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Jeff Fletcher will officiate. The family asks that those attending please feel free to dress casually in Packer or camo attire. A visitation will be held on Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.

Holly Funeral Homes wants to remind the public that no more than 75 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time with the wearing of masks and physical distancing observed.
