Library exhibit coordinator recognized as future leader

Liz Kneer is the recipient of the 2020 RUBY Award.

Coordinator of the Waupaca Area Public Library’s exhibit room, Kneer was chosen by the Selection Committee because of the diversity of organizations she is involved with, showing she is community minded and works hard to make Waupaca a better place.

The Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce, along with sponsors Community First Credit Union, Farmers State Bank and Knight Barry Tile Services, recognized her and other area young professionals last month, during the ninth annual RUBY (Recognizing the Upward, Bright and Young) Award Luncheon, at Par 4 Resort.

The chamber started the award in 2012 to recognize up and coming young professionals in the community.

To be nominated for the RUBY Award, individuals must be between age 18 and 40; work in the Waupaca area; be making a notable impact in their business or industry; and demonstrate service and commitment to the community.

The other nominees this year were Jami Bahr, ThedaCare; Alicia Dorsett, Trinity Lutheran Church; Kayla Flink, Farmers State Bank; Aaron Jenson, city of Waupaca; and and Melanie Peterson, Edward Jones.

“We know these YPs will become future leaders of our community, and we want them to know we appreciate them and want them to continue their involvement in our community,” said chamber President Terri Schulz.
