Chamber welcomes new business

Berg operates Center for Living Well

One of Iola’s newest businesses is now a member of the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce.

Center for Living Well owner Tammie Jo Berg previously owned Lessons From The Art, which she sold earlier this year.

The business is located in the former BankFirst building at 148 N. Main St. and shares space with Homestead Realty.

The center features a wide variety of holistic health practitioners and classes. Its mission is to provide a professional environment of healing, education and outreach to address difficulties and challenges relating to health in body, mind and spirit. This is achieved by incorporating various styles and approaches, ranging from yoga, nutrition, herbs and energy work to improving health and joy.

“When BankFirst moved out of this facility to move into its gorgeous new bank at 295 E. State St., we were concerned about filling the building,” chamber president Greg Loescher said. “We were absolutely ecstatic when we heard the news that Tammie Jo and her husband Brian Derus of Homestead Realty would be purchasing the building.

“As with her previous business, Lessons From The Art, which was sold to Eric Bestul earlier this year, the center provides the area with a unique and inspiring new business,” he said. “Tammie Jo is to be commended for her entrepreneurial spirit.”

“Opening a new business during covid certainly has its drawbacks, but I am very grateful for the support and encouragement from the community and surrounding areas,” Berg said. “I can’t wait to have a proper grand opening when this is all over.”

Berg was also recognized at the welcoming with a plaque for her role as chamber vice president for the past few years. Due to her expanded business situation, she stepped down from that role, but is still active in the chamber and is its webmaster.
