Thompson, Carolyn M.

Carolyn M. Thompson, age 81 of the Town Matteson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family.

The former Carolyn Mae Bucher was born May 8, 1939 in the Township of Grant, Shawano County, daughter to the late Herman and Hildegard (Voigt) Bucher. She attended the 1-room school house in Split Rock and moved to Shawano with her family when she was 11 years old. Carolyn was a 1957 graduate of Shawano High School. She was united in marriage to Knute Thompson at Zion Lutheran Church, Shawano on August 2, 1958. She worked at the Hanson Glove Factory, Clintonville and then Urban Telephone for a few years. Carolyn also worked as an Avon Sales Representative for many years while raising her children. She was a member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, where she volunteered for the Salad Luncheons and funerals. Carolyn really enjoyed crafts, cooking, baking, and entertaining friends. She will be remembered as a great mother and wife, as well as the love she had for her family.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Knute; daughter, Linda (Bill) Kinziger, Ripon; grandchildren, Kali and Jack Kinziger; and a brother, Jerome (Kathi) Bucher, Shawano. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gregory; a sister, Lorraine Heger; brother, Charles Bucher; and brother-in-law, Paul Heger.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Inurnment will follow privately at Greenwood Cemetery, Town of Matteson. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. If you plan on attending, please wear a face covering and practice social distancing at the church, thank you. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be directed to Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville.
