Arndt, Edna E.

Edna E. Arndt, age 98, of Marion passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at Aster Assisted Living, Clintonville.

The former Edna Elsa Bork was born on April 4, 1922 in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, to Emil and Gusty (Luedtke) Bork and graduated from Marion High School. She was united in marriage on June 5, 1943 to John F. Arndt at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont. The couple owned and operated Arndt’s Tap on Highway 45 in Marion along with John’s brother Rueben for 14 years. Edna also worked at the Marion Advertiser for over 40 years. She did just about everything; sold advertising spots, billed customers, proofread all the articles, and always greeted folks with a beautiful smile.

In her early days, Edna enjoyed spending time up north with her husband fishing and snowmobiling. The couple also went to many Milwaukee Braves games and she continued to follow the Milwaukee Brewers and liked watching the Green Bay Packers play. Her husband preceded her in death on February 25, 2008.

Edna was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Marion, and a former Ladies Aid member. She enjoyed playing sheepshead with family and friends. Edna will be remembered most as a kind and good-natured lady.

Survivors include one brother, Donald (Judith) Arndt of Marion, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; one sister, Frances (Karl) Hahn; and two brothers, Warren and Franklin Bork. She is further preceded by a sister-in-law, Barnette (Edwin) Wagner; and four brothers-in-law, Lee Evans, Emil, Rueben (Frances), and Raymond (Violet) Arndt.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 18th at 10:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Marion. Rev. Sara Gorman will officiate and burial will follow at St. John’s Trinity Cemetery, Town of Dupont. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church.
