Tis the Season

Dear Reader,

The season is upon us and already in full swing, or as full as it will get in this crazy year. Admittedly, this is the most unusual of Hanukkah and Christmas events we will probably ever experience in our lifetimes for a multitude of reasons.

We most likely will be clustered in our pods with family and a few good friends enjoying complex and varied experiences. Many of us will practice spiritual nurturing from our various religions and beliefs in different ways this year, probably unlike any other. Gift giving will continue to take shape in uniquely creative forms as well as the innovative manners in which they are given and received.

Hopefully all of us will have reason to celebrate blessings even though our annual abundance may be somewhat diminished in this darker time. We can look for the simpler joys – the wonder in a child’s eyes, the grateful smile of an outsider included in the celebration, and the warm satisfaction of whatever personal or virtual fellowship with loved ones is possible.

Now…turn on your holiday song list, bake some of those favorite recipes, watch some classic Christmas movies, and conjure up some old fashioned tasty libations that are only sipped and savored this time of year. Join the dance—celebrate the blessings that we do have and give thanks for the little things that make it all so exceedingly wondrous.
