The schedule shows there are still plenty of boys’ basketball games to be played yet in the Central Wisconsin Conference-North.

Manawa headed into the season with a new coach – Rick Zemple – and is making its case as one of the teams to beat.

The Wolves are off to a 3-0 start and all three wins have come over CWC-North opponents. The latest win came Dec. 18, as Mason Wiesner’s game-high 28 points helped lead Manawa to a 68-29 win over Bowler.

Manawa 68, Bowler 29

Manawa opened the game with a 16-2 run and the Panthers never recovered, as they didn’t get any closer than 12 points the rest of the game.

The Wolves led by as many as 20 points in the first half and took a 33-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Wiesner and Riley Krenke teamed up to score the Wolves’ first 16 points of the second half.

A 15-0 run late in the game gave the Wolves a 64-24 lead.

Krenke also finished in double figures for Manawa with 12 points, while Beau Brunner led Bowler with nine.

Manawa 70, Tigerton 30

The Wolves hit the road for the first time Dec. 11 and returned home with a 40-point win over the Tigers.

Manawa outscored the home team 38-18 in the first half and 32-12 in the second.

Wiesner and Krenke led the Wolves with 18 and 16 points, respectively, while Justin Knaup and Asher Michaelis had 10 for Tigerton.

The Wolves visited Shiocton Dec. 21 and returned to CWC-North play the following day at Gresham.
