Dale Kaufmann, age 91, of Fremont, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, December 20, 2020
at St. Joseph Residence in New London.
He was born on December 15, 1929 in Marshfield, WI, the son of Gottfried and Berth (Kaufmann) Kaufmann. The family then moved to Fremont and lived at Silverfield Cheese Factory which was owned by the family. They later moved to the Town of Vinland. Dale attended Beaver Dam School in Fremont and attended Fremont High School until it closed. Dale was confirmed at Hope United Church of Christ in Fremont. On February 4, 1951, Dale married Imogene Borchardt at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fremont. In 1955, their family moved to the farm in Fremont, owned by Imogene’s father, Ervin Borchardt, and Dale farmed the land for over 65 years. Imogene preceded him in death on January 5, 1977. Dale had a love of the land and farming was his joy. He also enjoyed collecting old tractors and visiting with his friends. Dale was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served as the chairman for 10 years, and also served on numerous boards both in the church and the school.
Dale is survived by three children, Mark (Susie) Kaufmann, Fremont; Meri (Dan) Erickson, Weyauwega and Mykel (Jeannine) Kaufmann Sr., Fremont; eight grandchildren: Stacy (Randy) Weyland, Emmy (Josh) Kiecker, Richard Kaufmann,Tricia (David) Hahn, Sarah (Bill Krueger) Baxter; Mykel (Ashley) Kaufmann Jr., Jason Kaufmann and Bryan Kaufmann; 14 grandchildren: Abigail, Rachel and Robert Weyland; Olivia, Isabella, Aiden and Elliot Kiecker; Skyler and Paige Hahn; Autumn and Brooke Baxter; Hayden, Mykel III and Bryson Kaufmann; a brother, Gale Kaufmann, GA; two brothers-in-law, Glenn Schmidt, Fremont and Bryan Purchatzke, Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Imogene; two grandsons, Baby Kiecker and Everett Kiecker; his sister, Darlene Schmidt and three sisters-in-law, Loretta Kaufmann, Arlyss Purchatzke and Ruth(Philip) Wachowiak.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 8580 37th Ave., Fremont. Pastor Paul Fritz will officiate. Visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Wolf River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for St, John Lutheran Church and School and Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
