Lewis, Charles “Chuck” E.

Charles “Chuck” E Lewis, age 75, of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Appleton.

He was born on February 4, 1945 in Appleton, WI, the son of the late Milton and Arlene (Swamer) Lewis Sr. Chuck served his country in the US Air Force as a medic from January 26, 1965 to January 11, 1971 and served in the Vietnam War from December 1968-February 1969. He took great pride in his service to his country. On December 16, 1977, Chuck married Patricia Pitt at Hope United Church of Christ in Fremont. They lived in Appleton until 1992 when they moved to Fremont to fulfill Chuck’s dream of having a country home. Chuck was a die hard conservative and patriot. He was an example of living the life of struggle and difficulty, yet he trusted his Lord and Savior, and knew his eternal destination was secure. Chuck was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 351.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Pat; five sons: Thomas, Fremont, Tony (Erin), Neenah, Andrew (Adreanne), Winneconne, Byron (Ronnie), Weyauwega and Jacob, Fremont; his daughter, Jill (Todd) Chase, Neenah; lifelong friend, John (Joyce) Kramer, Pine River; a brother, Milton (Pat) Lewis Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Sandy (Dewey) Tangwall, Fremont and Darlene Hermanson, Appleton; 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Daniel; a brother, Robert and a sister, Fredericka.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Lewin Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Fremont. Pastor Jim Curtis will officiate. Visitation will be held at Lewin Funeral Home on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Because of Chuck’s ongoing struggles with PTSD and depression and the loss of his son, Daniel, the family set up a memorial fund after Dan’s death. That memorial helps fund those suffering from depression to benefit from ketamine treatments at the Ketamine Wellness Center. Memorials may be directed to The Hope from Daniel Lewis Memorial Fund.
