Thunderbirds pick up home win

Iola-Scandinavia picked up a Central Wisconsin Conference-East girls’ basketball win Dec. 22 with a 41-16 victory over Weyauwega-Fremont.

The Thunderbirds improved to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in CWC-East play.

Iola-Scandinavia scored the game’s first 13 points and led 23-5 at halftime.

Weyauwega-Fremont never got any closer than 16 points in the second period and trailed by as many as 29 points late in the game.

Lillian Fuhs was the only player to finish the game in double figures, as she led the T-Birds with 14 points.

Reilly Claassen led Weyauwega-Fremont with five points, all in the first half.

The T-Birds are scheduled to host Adams-Friendship at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Weyauwega-Fremont will host Shiocton at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4.
