Comet boys top Menasha

Waupaca outscored Wrightstown in the second half of their North Eastern Conference boys’ basketball matchup Jan. 4, but still came out on the short end of an 81-65 score.

The Comets also picked up their second win of the season Dec. 29, a 74-70 nonconference victory over Menasha.

Wrightstown 81, Waupaca 65

The Comets trailed the Tigers 44-26 at halftime and outscored them 39-37 in the second half.

Hunter Marcom and Evan Bogard led Waupaca with 23 and 22 points, respectively, while Wrightstown’s Sam Haese led all scorers with 25.

Waupaca 74, Menasha 70

Waupaca outscored the Bluejays 37-22 in the first half, but had to hold on after Menasha tied the game in the closing minutes.

The Comets led by as many as 19 points in the second half before the Bluejays tied the game at 67-67 with just under two minutes to play.

Marcom led four Comets in double figures with 21 points. Bryce Boldt added 18, while Dawson Patzke scored 17 and Bogard chipped in with 10.

Jalen Womack led Menasha with 20 points.

The Comets are scheduled to head to Oconto Falls Thursday, Jan. 7, before hosting Clintonville at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12.
