Girls top Northland Lutheran

Manawa’s girls’ basketball team came up short in its nonconference matchup with Lourdes Academy.

Meanwhile, the Wolves held on to first place in the Central Wisconsin Conference-North standings Jan. 11 with a 52-41 win over Northland Lutheran.

Lourdes Academy 51, Manawa 47

The Knights outscored the Wolves by two points in each half Jan. 18 in Oshkosh.

Manawa 52, Northland Lutheran 41

Northland Lutheran came into its first of two matchups with the Wolves with a 6-0 record, but returned home with its first loss.

The teams went into the locker room at halftime tied at 22-21, but Manawa outscored the visitors 31-20 in the second half.

Mikenna Wegener led the Wolves with 15 points and Jaden Jaeger and Kaitlyn Miller added 11 each. Northland Lutheran’s Brooke Neumann led all scorers with 16.

The Wolves will resume CWC-North play at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, against Gresham. The game will be played at Manawa Elementary School, as the Manawa wrestling team will host Weyauwega-Fremont at the same time at Little Wolf High School.
