Gretzinger, David Sr.

David L. Gretzinger Sr., age 87, of Clintonville died on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Aster Assisted Living, Clintonville.

David Lee Gretzinger was born on June 16, 1933 in Clintonville to William and Pauline (Maes) Gretzinger. He grew up in Clintonville and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1951. He studied for several years at St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary, WI and at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, IN. David returned to Clintonville and started working in the office at FWD Corporation. He was united in marriage on September 23, 1963 to Carol M. Seefeldt at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. He was employed in the Production Control Department at Seagrave Fire Apparatus for close to 41 years, retiring in 1997. David was a longtime member of St. Rose Catholic Church. In his early days, he liked downhill skiing and ice skating. David enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling. The couple went on numerous trips and saw almost every state in the country. David was musically gifted and was able to play the keyboard and the accordion. He especially liked playing polka music with his brother Paul. David will be remembered as a soft-spoken person who had a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carol; one daughter, Nadine (Mark) Kutchenriter; a daughter-in-law, Lisa; and two grandsons, Brandon and Brian. There are three sisters-in-law, Diana, Carol, and Mary Ann Gretzinger. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Mark; a son David Jr.; four sisters, Gwendolyn (Al) Fladin, Betty (Paul) Fandrey, Marjorie (Orville) Guyette, and Rita (Russell) Flink; and five brothers, William (Mary), Donald, John (Joyce), Gary, and Paul Gretzinger. David is further preceded by his father and mother-in-law, Oscar and Bernice Seefeldt; and two sisters-in-law, Beverly (Juan) Ortiz and Joann (Roger) Prey.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Fr. Timothy Shillcox, O. Praem will officiate and inurnment will be at a later date in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
