Man charged with child sex crime

Suspect in custody on $50,000 cash bond

Fred A. Holbach, 45, Waupaca, is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child, causing mental harm to a child, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Dec. 22, 2020, Detective Sgt. Jon Loken, with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, began investigating the alleged sexual assault of a girl who had been 5 years old at the time of the incident.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl cried repeatedly and clutched her doll while an investigator at the Neenah Child Advocacy Center interviewed her.

The girl said Holbach was holding a BB gun in his hand when he told her to take off her clothes.

Holbach faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted of sexual assault of a child.

He is currently in custody on a $50,000 cash bond.

On Aug. 28, 2017, Holbach pleaded no contest to a felony charge of battery to an officer.

Charges of resisting an officer and disorderly conduct were dismissed but read into the court record.

Holbach entered into a two-year deferred prosecution agreement on the battery charge with the condition that he not commit any more crimes.

On Aug. 27, 2019, Judge Raymond Huber granted the prosecutor’s motion to dismiss the case.

While Holbach was in Waupaca County jail, another prisoner reportedly punched and stomped Holbach.
