Curbside collection in Waupaca raises funds for non-profit organizations
Rotary ended this holiday season with its annual citywide Christmas tree pickup.
Volunteers met early on Saturday, Jan. 9, to collect trees left on the side of the road by area residents.
All collected trees were donated to a local goat farm.
“Our club has just launched a committee focused on the environment,” said Trey Foerster, club president. “Using trees as goat feed is a small thing, but a way we can do our part to preserve and enhance the environment in our area.”
Residents contributed $700 for the tree pick. Donations will support scholarships, environmental projects and local non-profit organizations.
