Clintonville School Board says no to ATVs

All-terrain vehicles not welcome on district property

By Bert Lehman

Even if the city of Clintonville approves a new ordinance allowing ATV and UTV traffic on city streets, ATVs and UTVs are not welcome on the properties owned by the Clintonville School District.

At a Jan. 25 meeting, the Clintonville School Board approved restricting ATVs and UTVs from property owned by the school district.

The restrictions were recommended by Superintendent David Dyb, as well as the city’s insurance liability carrier.

The board also approved two exceptions to the restrictions.

One would be for of the school district’s current maintenance vehicles, with the other for class and curriculum purposes.

During the discussion, Dyb said he would also recommend to the city that it “highly consider that Green Tree Road not be designated an ATV/UTV route because of the volume of traffic around our schools and proximity to our green spaces and our open fields. It’s just too tempting.”
