Busse, Elizabeth “Betty”

Elizabeth “Betty” Busse, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at her residence.

She was born on September 24, 1949 in Hartford, Wisconsin, daughter of Ernst and Anna (Berger) Schwendimann. Betty graduated from Slinger High School in 1967 and worked her early years at Stanga Cheese in Rubicon. On October 17, 1970, she was united in marriage to James E. Busse Sr., at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Slinger. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2004. Betty was a stay-at-home mother and farmed alongside her husband and family in Colgate, WI. They bought a farm and relocated to Weyauwega in 1985, farming until 2002. Betty was a loving, selfless person with a compassionate heart, always putting others before herself. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished time with her family, especially when caring for her grandsons, whom she adored.

Betty is survived by her children, Lisa (Michael Winters) Busse, Waupaca, and James (Della) Busse Jr., Weyauwega; sisters, Barbara (Dean) Molstad, Sussex and Linda (Dan) Schulteis, Richfield; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann (Melvin) Waugh, Poynette; mother, Anna Schwendimann, Brookfield; grandsons: Bradley and David Winters, and Nick and Noah Herring; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She truly cherished the friendships she made over the last several years with members of her apartment community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Busse Sr.; father, Ernst Schwendimann; father-in-law, Lloyd Busse and mother-in-law, Margaret Busse; brother-in-law, Daniel Busse.

The family wishes to thank the two Weyauwega City police officers and the Gold Cross Ambulance Service.

The Funeral Service for Betty will be held at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Life Celebration Center of Weyauwega at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 with the Rev. Mary Bope officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing if you plan to attend.
