Waupaca police find body

Deceased male found on Townsend Road

Waupaca police found a body outside an unoccupied residence on Townsend Road on the east side of the city on Sunday, Feb. 7.

At 7:11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, Waupaca police were dispatched to a business located on the 700 block of Redfield Street, near the intersection with Oak Street.

A caller reported a vehicle was stuck in a snowbank.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an unoccupied vehicle behind the business with its headlights on and a passenger door ajar.

Police checked the surrounding area and local businesses, but were unable to find the registered owner.

Officers later found a deceased male outdoors on Townsend Road.

He was confirmed as the missing owner of the vehicle.

Redfield Street becomes Townsend Road less than one-quarter mile from where the car was discovered.

Temperatures on Saturday night dropped to below zero.

This incident remains under investigation.
