Donations made to area food pantries

Marion Body Works staff, local union raise funds

Members of the Marion Body Works Caring Committee and Local Union 2-790 presented $2,080 to each of the three local food pantries in Marion, Clintonville and Tigerton on Feb. 2.

This donation comes as local families face challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Every year, Marion Body Works, through its Caring Committee, organizes a holiday fundraiser in an effort to give back to the community.

This year, raffle tickets were sold to employees, and proceeds were matched 100% by Marion Body Works and 50% by Local Union 2-790.

The combined contributions resulted in a grand total of more than $6,500 raised.

Employees purchased, wrapped and delivered gifts for 25 children this past December.

The holiday fundraiser provided any gifts the employees did not purchase themselves, and all remaining funds were donated directly to the food pantries in February.

“It is a privilege to present these donations to the food pantries that work so hard to serve our community. The generosity and support from the employees at Marion Body Works for the holiday fundraiser is always astonishing and this year was no exception.” said Kevin Ignacio, director of business development and a member of the Caring Committee. “A huge thank you to the union and employees at Marion Body Works who made this possible.”
