Wrestling co-op ends

Clintonville terminates agreement with Marion

By Bert Lehman

The Clintonville School District has ended its wrestling co-op agreement with the Marion School District.

At its Feb. 22 meeting, the Clintonville School Board voted not to renew the wrestling co-op agreement.

The agreement had allowed students from the Marion School District to wrestle under Clintonville’s wrestling program.

Prior to the vote, Shaun Liesch, district activities director for the Clintonville School District, told the board that for the past five years, there has been only one student from the Marion School District who joined the Clintonville wrestling program through the co-op agreement.

“With the significant increase in numbers this year within the (wrestling) program, I feel that we are in a good enough place to run things on our own as our own team,” Liesch said.
