Lamers marks 15 years in Waupaca

Daily bus service from Milwaukee to Wausau

Lamers Bus Lines celebrated its 15th anniversary of daily service through Waupaca on Saturday, April 3.

The Lamers Connect Intercity Bus leaves the Waupaca Mobil Truck Stop every day, 365 days a year, at 9:20 a.m. and travels via Appleton, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac to downtown Milwaukee and then to Mitchell Airport.

Bus and Amtrak connections are available in Milwaukee for Chicago and communities nationwide.

Connecting service via Appleton provides a direct link to Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

The bus returns from Milwaukee at 6:20 p.m. daily and continues to Stevens Point and Wausau with a direct connection to Wisconsin Rapids.

Jon Evenson, operations manager for Lamers Connect, noted Lamers has continued this daily service despite the pandemic.

“The pandemic has been challenging for the intercity bus industry, with many companies forced to reduce or eliminate service,” Evenson said. “But Lamers has continued all of its services even with reduced ridership, because we understood the importance of maintaining our service for essential transportation purposes.”

Lamers continues to take special steps to ensure passenger safety during the pandemic.

Evenson said masks are required for staff and passengers, social distancing is practiced and encouraged and additional cleaning and sanitation practices are in place on all coaches.

He also pointed out that “Lamers ticket prices have not changed in years and are the same every day of the week, holidays included.”

The company also offers student, senior and military discounts.

“Waupaca is now one of 20 communities in Wisconsin served by Lamers, and we are very pleased to include this community in our network of services,” Evenson said. “We at Lamers are quite proud of having served Waupaca with daily intercity bus service for the past 15 years.”

Lamers Connect tickets may be purchased at the Waupaca Mobil Travel Center or at GoLamers.com.
