Elaine Jean Gruel, age 83 of Manawa, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center – Neenah.
She was born on April 14, 1937 in Dayton, Wisconsin, Waupaca County, daughter of the late Albert and Sylvia (Alft) Schroeder. On December 16, 1990, she was united in marriage to Walter “Butch” Gruel Jr., he preceded her in death on August 30, 2014. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco.
She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Ervin) Johnson, Richard (Yvonne) Piotter, Michael (Maria) Piotter, Eva (Douglas) Lozynski; Walter’s children: Suzann (William) McClenahan, Steven (Ginny) Gruel, Robert (Beverly) Gruel; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter; son Steven Piotter; stepson William “Billy” Gruel.
A memorial service for Elaine will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral & Cremation Care of Manawa is assisting the family.
